empowHER Workshops

Our Mission

At EmpowHer, our vision is to walk alongside children and young adults impacted by the foster care system—meeting them where they are and supporting them as they grow into who they are becoming.

One Journey. Two Stages. Lifelong Impact.

The Caterpillar and Butterfly Programs reflect EmpowHer’s commitment to continuity of care—supporting foster youth before, during, and after they transition into adulthood.

From nurturing growth to empowering transformation, we are committed to walking this journey with them—every step of the way.

Caterpillar Program (Ages 18 & Under)

The Caterpillar Program is designed for children who are currently in the foster care system. Just as a caterpillar represents growth, preparation, and potential, this program focuses on nurturing stability, confidence, and self-worth during formative years.

Core Focus Areas:

  • Emotional support and mentorship
  • Life-skills foundations and personal development
  • Educational enrichment and encouragement
  • Wellness, self-esteem, and identity building
  • Consistent reminders that they are seen, valued, and capable

This program provides a safe space for growth—laying the foundation for future transformation.

Butterfly Program (Ages 18 & Over)

The Butterfly Program serves young adults aging out of the foster care system, a critical and often vulnerable transition period. Like a butterfly emerging, participants are supported as they step into independence, purpose, and self-sufficiency.

Core Focus Areas:

  • Independent living and life-skills training
  • Career readiness, education, and workforce support
  • Financial literacy and stability planning
  • Mentorship, coaching, and community connection
  • Empowerment, identity, and long-term vision building

This program is about transformation—helping young adults not just survive adulthood, but thrive in it.

Young adults and youth who receive money management education when the principles are most relevant to their stage of life, are more likely to take those skills into adulthood. Without intentionally exposing young children to financial concepts and educating pre-teens and teens on proper money management practices, they will inevitably pick up poor money habits. We don’t want to leave our youth’s future financial management skills to chance.

EmpowHer offers programs for both school-age youth and young adults, so we can provide age-appropriate financial education during a young person’s formative years.

Program Goals:

  • Teach basic financial management concepts.
  • Develop skills in budgeting and money management.
  • Encourage responsible saving and investing.
  • Promote wise consumer choices.
  • Foster an understanding of credit and debt.
  • Provide resources for future financial planning.

Program Impact

  • Improved Financial Knowledge: Participants gain practical skills in budgeting, saving, credit building, debt management, and understanding financial systems.

  • Increased Economic Confidence: Participants report feeling more empowered to make day-to-day and long-term financial decisions.

  • Behavioral Shifts: Many participants begin practicing consistent saving habits, reducing debt, improving credit scores, and avoiding predatory financial products.
