For families experiencing financial hardship, the holiday season can bring more worry than celebration. Rising household expenses, housing instability, and limited financial resources often leave parents and caregivers struggling to provide basic necessities, much less holiday gifts for their children. For children in foster care, the season can be especially difficult as they navigate separation, uncertainty, and changes in family circumstances.

The primary goal of this initiative is to reduce seasonal financial hardship while strengthening family stability and expanding access to community resources.

Objective 1: Provide Holiday Assistance

Distribute new, age appropriate toys and gifts to children from economically disadvantaged households, including children in foster care and kinship care arrangements.

Objective 2: Reduce Financial Pressure on Families

Provide holiday assistance that allows participating households to preserve limited financial resources for essential expenses such as housing, utilities, food, and transportation.

Objective 3: Expand Access to Community Resources

Engage local organizations and service providers to share information about educational support, financial literacy, health and wellness, family assistance, and other available community services.

EmpowHer Enterprises has an established history of delivering holiday assistance through community partnerships.

In 2025, in collaboration with United Community Corporation in Newark, New Jersey, EmpowHer distributed more than 1,000 toys to over 400 families experiencing economic hardship.

This initiative demonstrated the organization's ability to mobilize community support, coordinate toy distribution, engage volunteers, and reach families through trusted neighborhood partnerships.

Building on this success, EmpowHer seeks to strengthen its annual outreach by incorporating a more intentional family resource component that connects participating households with information and services designed to address broader family needs.

Our past results provide a foundation for responsible program growth, while our expanded approach creates additional opportunities to document family engagement and community resource connections.
